Reasons Today Should Be A Snow Day

1.
2. "En route to campus this morning, my car skidded and got lodged in a snowbank. I abandoned it just now to walk several blocks back to my house in order to email you: I won't make it to campus this morning obviously." --D. Daniels, WRIT professor.

So yesterday I got to have lunch with one of my favorite guys ever. It was super, duper necessary, as with him I'm never afraid of what I say and he's far enough removed from any situation that he's a huge help. Through yesterday's conversation, I realized that what I was going through is totally normal and while being sick probably blew it out of proportion a little bit, I was able to really see the problem and know that it was something I could fix. Its definitely not going to be easy, but I know that it's something I can do and having my friend alongside me will help a great deal. Finding and keeping balance in your life between school and friends, and even within various friend groups is always going to be a challenge, and until its found, life will be hard, but I know its something that will happen one day and life will be great. :)

On a side note, my Hebrew class is perhaps the greatest group of people (outside PLP) ever. I am never bored with my class, and they never fail to keep me laughing and entertained.

Change

"Oh, the smallest thing can make all the difference
Love is alive, don't listen to them when they say
'You're just a fool, just a fool to believe you can change the world'"
--Change, Carrie Underwood

There's a lot of bad stuff going on in the world these days. There's poverty, discrimination, all over the world teens struggle with self esteem issues causing them to self harm, or even commit suicide. But at the same time, there's love in the world. Never doubt the power of a simple smile, or wave as you pass someone along the street. The smallest things CAN make all the difference, and maybe you won't see the effect you have on someone, but I can guarantee its there. Even just a simple text to make sure someone's having a good night, or the request to sleep on the floor so that person doesn't have to be alone for the night can turn someone's day around and maybe, in extreme cases, save a life. The best thing about a smile or a hug? They don't cost you anything, but could be priceless to the person on the receiving end. Don't be stingy with your smiles and hugs, you're never going to run out. Love you all!
